Hearing Test

At ASI Beltone, your hearing health is our main priority. That’s why we offer a free hearing test at any of our 20 locations. A hearing test helps gather the most accurate information in order to make customized treatment decisions for each of our individual patients.

What is a Hearing Test?

A hearing test is a simple examination to determine if you have hearing loss, and if so, the state of its development. A hearing test can also determine how well you can understand speech in a noisy environment. There are many types of hearing tests, so speaking with your specialist about your symptoms first, will help them determine which test is right for you.

Reasons You Should Receive a Hearing Test in Person

The symptoms of hearing loss can be subtle, so getting an in-person hearing test and being evaluated by a professional is an important first step to ensure optimal hearing health. Other reasons for taking a hearing test can include if you:

  • Have trouble hearing in loud areas
  • Find it hard to hear someone over the phone
  • Have noticed or experienced any sudden changes in your hearing
  • Start having ear-related problems such as pain, discomfort, discharge or swelling in the ear canal
  • Work in a noisy environment, as this is one of the main causes of hearing damage
  • Are over 65, as hearing loss is a common problem in this age group
  • Want to take a proactive approach to your hearing health before hearing damage occurs

What to Expect at Your FREE Hearing Test

This non-invasive test is usually held in a quiet room or booth designed to eliminate background noises. You will be asked to wear earplugs or headphones that are connected to a device called an audiometer, which conducts the test.

During your hearing test, you will be asked to respond to tones played at different pitches and volumes. The test will be measured by how well you can hear the softest sounds that are played at each frequency. You may also listen to different frequencies and volumes of speech to determine the softest speech sounds you can hear and understand.

Once you have taken your free hearing test, we can better assist with giving you a personalized hearing health assessment, aiming to give you the care and assistance you need to hear better.
